Puppy Sighs

In Memory of Nikki

Nikki - One of "Daddy's Angles"

December 11, 2009 - Nikki died today. At just over 5 years old, Nikki was gone way
too soon. She'd been sick for over a year and her little body just couldn't hold out
any longer. She holds a special place in our hearts and will be remembered forever.
There were 3 Daddy's Angles, Freckles, Nikki, and Gracie. Our middle Angle is
gone.

Nikki was our second black cocker spaniel and while she never knew Pippin, our
first black cocker, she was a lot like him - patient, quiet, beautiful.

One of the things I'll miss most about Nikki was our doing Therapy Visits. She was a
natural Therapy Dog. We'd always known she was a "people person" from visits to
the dog park. Instead of playing with the dogs, she'd go from person to person
getting and giving love. She especially loved the kids. I took Nikki to a Therapy Dog
test to see what I'd need to work with her on the do this work. I guess not
surprisingly, nothing. She passed the test with flying colors. We only made a few
dozen visits to hospitals and nursing homes before she got sick and couldn't go any
more. I was so looking forward to her getting better, so we could start doing this
again.

Nikki was Gracie's favorite place to sit and never complained. Gracie is another
Angle who just happens to like to sit on her sisters. Nikki was her favorite.

To say we will miss this little girl is such a huge understatement. There will NEVER
be anyone like Nikki. We loved her and miss her so very much.

We truly hope there is a
Rainbow Bridge where Nikki's spirit will live forever.
